Replied by SUE QUATE on topic Welcome to the CBBC Forum! an intro
A number of upgrades to our website have just launched.

Among them is this new CBBC Forum--an online discussion site where members can hold conversations in the form of posted messages. The Forum is similar in function to our CBBCtalk listserv, but it can be accessed with either a Web browser or email. A single conversation is called a thread or topic.

Advantages include the ability to categorize and review posted messages at any time. You can also subscribe to any topic or category (or all of them) so you’ll receive email notifications of new posts or replies to yours.

You can read a feed of the most recent posts in 3 places: on the top left of the Home page, on the Ride Schedule page, and in "Recent Discussions" under the Join/Renew menu without logging in, but only CBBC members can review all topics and post to the Forum, and need to be logged in to do so. Once you log in, the Forum is under the Member Access menu.

If we had a current email address you requested from the site (not cbbctalk) and you're a current member, you should have received an email today to reconfirm. If not, and you're a member and you'd like to browse the Member Access area, just click the "Request a Login" at the bottom left of our Home page. Be patient; it won't happen instantly.

We'll all learn more about how to use the new features through the Forum itself and in articles on the site. Give it a test drive!

The Forum is an online discussion tool where members can read and hold conversations via posted messages. These are organized into categories, each of which has related subtopics (your posts). You can review any of the messages at any time.

A feed of the most recent posts lives in two places: at the top left of our Home page, and on our Ride Schedule page. A full list of recent posts is under the Join/Renew tab, Recent Discussions. These all allow you to see late-breaking news and ride changes and weather cancellations right away without logging in. Bookmark cbbikeclub.org on your smartphone!

The Forum is similar in function to our (now retired) CBBCTalk listserv, but is much more versatile, and is accessed through our site. You can choose to subscribe to any category or subtopic so you'll receive email notifications of new posts. (See how-to post in this category.) You can also add an “avatar” or a photo to your profile. It can be you, your dog, your dream bike—whatever you chose.

If you’re looking for certain info or a post you recall but can’t find, there is a “search topics” function in the navigation menu. Try it out. Search the Forum and to find the post about how to subscribe and unsubscribe to categories.

You must be a current CBBC member and log in in order for the full Forum page and all other items under the "Member Access" menu to be available. We'll continue to share more tips and info in the Forum itself, in InGear, and in articles on our site.

NOTE: CBBCTalk retires on Saturday 2/28. Anything you previously emailed via CBBCTalk should be posted to the Forum instead. Please post messages in the category that best fits. General discussion or posts that don't fit any other category go in "Comments." Give the Forum a test drive!
